My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable girl with her puppy dog eyes came to us at Animal Humane New Mexico for a large-scale hoarding situation of over 100 plus dogs who were living together on one property.
Given Gracie's background, she was very fearful at first and has needed some additional behavior work during her stay here at the shelter. Now Gracie loves her favorite people- she will wag her tail as fast as she can, play bow, and spin circles when she sees them. She also loves to run laps outside and find a nice warm spot in the sun to recharge in.
She has been dubbed "Princess Gracie" by staff because she loves being carted around in her Doggie Stroller, which will go home with her.
Because of Gracie's background, she will need a special home who is understanding that Gracie will take a while to adjust to the home life- if given the time to settle in, she will be a wonderful companion full of lots of goofy antics!
Gracie has lived with many dogs in the past, but now that she has had time to herself she can be a little selective with new dogs she meets- she would like to meet your dog prior to adoption!
If you think your home is a good fit for Gracie, come in and meet with her today!

More about this shelter

Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless and at-risk dogs & cats each year. We never euthanize based on age or length of stay and since 2010, have re-homed 100% of healthy pets in our care. We support every companion animal at Animal Humane with outstanding veterinary, social and emotional care, and love.

As a private nonprofit shelter, we receive no city, state or federal funding; each dollar judiciously spent is earned or raised. We are nationally recognized as a top U.S. charity based on financial accountability, transparency, and administrative-to-program cost ratios.
