My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Picture will be available after shavedown.
Kenzie came to us as an owner surrender. Kenzie came in with 4 other standard poodles that we will be getting ready in the coming weeks. The pups were surrendered because the owner became overwhelmed and could no longer care for them. All of the dogs were living in an RV with a child and the owner. It just became too much and they decided it would be in the dog's best interest to find them new homes. Since the dogs just arrived at the rescue, we do not have a lot of specific info on them as we are just starting to get to know them ourselves. Kenzie is very friendly and gentle. She wants to be with you and close to wherever you are. She will follow you everywhere. She seems to love everyone and has just made herself right at home with us and the other dogs. She seems to do well in the house and has not tried getting on the counters or in the trash (so far). She seems to be (partially) housetrained but that has yet to be determined fully since she just arrived. We have not tried Kenzie in a crate yet but she would probably do fine. Kenzie does walk well on a leash and rode well to the vet. She seemed to enjoy her outing. Kenzie had quite a few mats so we will be having the vet shave her down next week. They were not able to get the shavedown done on Wednesday when she was spayed becauae they were short staffed and had a full sugery schedule. She may also be just a bit underweight so we will be working on fattening her up (we will be able to tell better once the coat comes off). She is a really nice girl and a gentle little lady so we think she would do well in pretty much any household. She would probably prefer someone who could be home most of the time because she really wants to be close to you but she doesn't appear to have separation anxiety if you can't be with her every minute. We think she will be a wonderful companion for pretty much any household/family!
Kenzie saw the vet on 9/4/24 and was found to have an ear infection and matted on her exam. Vet stated that her ears were "a mess" She did receive an ear pluck and Claro Otic for her ear infection. She will be shaved down Monday or Tuesday of next week (we have her and a male to get done so not sure who will go what day but both should be done and totally ready for adoption after 9/10/24). She also tested negative on her heartworm test but was positive for hookworms on her fecal so we have given her a Drontal for the hookworms. She may need a follow up in 3 weeks. She has been started on Simparica Trio monthly also for flea control and heartworm prevention. Kenzie weighed 45 pounds as of 9/4/24.
If interested in giving Kenzie her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Kenzie's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Kenzie based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you

More about this rescue

We are a small rescue started in September 2004. To date, we have adopted out over 1,000 dogs and cats who may not have had a second chance. We rescue the majority of our pets from kill shelters and have them thoroughly vetted prior to going to their new homes. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked(dogs) and dewormed. We also microchip our dogs so that they can always find their way home. Big and small, we work to rehome them all. We are always in need of donations so if you can help us to help our pets, please contact us! The more people who get involved, the more pets that we can save! You can also see our pets and/or fill out our adoption application on www.petfinder.com. We look forward to hearing from you and making that "forever match"!
