Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.

Note-Toby does not seem to like small dogs but does well with dogs his size or larger
Toby came to us as an owner surrender. Toby came in with 4 other standard poodles that we will be getting ready in the coming weeks. The pups were surrendered because the owner became overwhelmed and could no longer care for them. All of the dogs were living in an RV with a child and the owner. It just became too much and they decided it would be in the dog's best interest to find them new homes. Since the dogs just arrived at the rescue, we do not have a lot of specific info on them as we are just starting to get to know them ourselves. Toby is very friendly and active. He would be a great walking partner or adventure taker. Toby wants to be near you and will follow you everywhere. He seems to love everyone and has just made himself right at home with us and the other dogs. He seems to do well in the house and has not tried getting on the counters or in the trash (so far). He seems to be (partially) housetrained but that has yet to be determined fully since he just arrived. We have not tried Toby in a crate yet but he would probably do fine. Toby does walk well on a leash and rode well to the vet. He seemed to enjoy his outing. Toby had quite a few mats so we will be having the vet shave him down next week. They were not able to get the shavedown done on Wednesday when he was neutered becauae they were short staffed and had a full sugery schedule. He may also be just a bit underweight so we will be working on fattening him up (we will be able to tell better once the coat comes off). He is a really nice boy with a bit more energy and confidence than Dusty and we think he would do well in pretty much any household. He would probably prefer someone who could be home most of the time but he doesn't appear to have separation anxiety if you can't be with him every minute. We think he will be a wonderful companion, especially for a more active household/family!
Toby saw the vet on 9/4/24 and was found to have an ear infection, an eye infection and matted on his exam. He did receive an ear pluck and Claro Otic for his ear infection and has started on eye meds for the eye infection. He will be shaved down Monday or Tuesday of next week (we have him and a female to get done so not sure who will go what day but hoth should be done and totally ready for adoption after 9/10/24). He also tested negative on his heartworm test but was positive for hookworms on his fecal so we have given him a Drontal for the hookworms. He may need a follow up in 3 weeks. He has been started on Simparica Trio monthly also for flea control and heartworm prevention. Toby weighed 45 pounds as of 9/4/24.
If interested in giving Toby his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Toby's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Toby based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you

More about this rescue
We are a small rescue started in September 2004. To date, we have adopted out over 1,000 dogs and cats who may not have had a second chance. We rescue the majority of our pets from kill shelters and have them thoroughly vetted prior to going to their new homes. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked(dogs) and dewormed. We also microchip our dogs so that they can always find their way home. Big and small, we work to rehome them all. We are always in need of donations so if you can help us to help our pets, please contact us! The more people who get involved, the more pets that we can save! You can also see our pets and/or fill out our adoption application on www.petfinder.com. We look forward to hearing from you and making that "forever match"!
