My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All AHHS animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).
Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

"This beautiful Walker Coonhound was abandoned by her prior owner. She found her way to our house. She was dehydrated, hungry, and sick. My family took care of her. We fed her. We took her to the vet. We've been fostering her for the last few weeks. However, we can't keep her. She's a very friendly dog. She's very loyal. She's constantly by my side. She's housetrained. She's spayed. She's no trouble to care for. She's calm, mild mannered, and laid back. She likes to take walks. She good with other dogs. She doesn't, however, like cats. She'd make a great pet for any family. Plus, there's no training involved. She could easily transition to your home. Please feel free to contact me for more information (423-914-1463)."

More about this rescue

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society is a private non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. We do not receive public or government funding, and no monies from national humane organizations or county, state or federal government funds. Our work depends solely on grants, fundraisers, adoptions, private funding, memberships and donations. The fees collected from the adoption of each animal help to offset some of the costs involved in providing care for the animals and preparing an animal for placement into a new home. We value every animal equally and consider all to be priceless
