Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Norman!, He is a 4 year old Hairy Hairless Chinese Crested who came to us from a rural shelter. He is approximately 4 years old and weighs 12.5 pounds. Typical of the Chinese Crested, Norman loves attention, and really wants his very own person. He is an active dog that enjoys racing around in the yard, going for walks, running errands - whatever you're doing, he's right there. He is exceptionally smart and wants to please! He comes when he's called, has basically mastered house breaking skills but will need to be kept on track and re-trained to his new home's schedule and his new environment.
We think Norman was a previous breeder dog and not too socialized as a typical pet but he's doing great at leaning what it's all about. He is SUPER affectionate, loves to be held and on your lap. He's clean in his crate during short breaks and during the night. It was obvious that Norman is used to being groomed; great in the bath and with clippers, etc. Most hairy hairless owners shave the small amount of hair that is on the body. The hair on his ears have been recently cut but will grow back. Chinese Cresteds need some special care. He will need sun protection and clothing in the cold months. They lacking normal dentition, (typical for hairless dogs), so Norman will need to have his teeth brushed on a daily basis and plenty of quality chews for him during the week. Please take some time to research this breed if you are not familiar so you know their needs and if they will fit into your lifestyle and environment.
Star-Mar Rescue is a natural care provider and adopts to people who already practice that level of care or are eager to learn.
NORMAN'S HOME WILL REQUIRE:
* someone who doesn't work away from hom a typical 40 hour week; someone that is working from home and can have him in their work space or works very part-time..
* none or one other small dog in the home who isn't a bully or pushy
* a home where he can be the focus and treated as a family member and have his own person.
* a home that feeds a balanced, raw diet; either fresh ground (frozen) or freeze dried.
* a home without small children
* a home that does not use chemical preventatives on their dogs, does not use chemicals on their yard or in their home. We believe in protection without harm.
* a home with a fenced yard or fenced area that leads directly from the home that is big enough for Norman to run freely.
Star-Mar Rescue does home visits with the dog. Our adoption area includes the Cleveland and Columbus area and other areas not more than about an hour and a half from Akron, OH.
If you feel that you can offer Normal a great life as listed above, please contact me at learymjri@aol.com or call Martha at 330-466-3667.
