🐾🧡🌴Meet Fred, a “Sato dog” from Puerto Rico! A “Sato dog” refers to the small to medium-sized stray dogs on the island. Island dogs are smart, loyal, highly trainable, and thrive on routines and consistency. They have wonderful demeanors, make devoted companions, adjust well to their environments, and are a perfect mix of energetic and affectionate. There is no love like the love of an island dog.
(Six week update: 10/26/24): Fred is another sibling rescued off the streets (Firu, Felix, and Fernando’s brother). They were all found in Trujillo Alto, PR with a pack of stray dogs. Fred is a sweet, playful, and independent little boy. While trusting people was a work in progress, he is doing well with interactions/socialization. He is thriving with both daytime and nighttime crate training, potty training concepts, and walks nicely on the leash/harness. He has learned various commands like “sit, crate”, etc, and follows them nicely. As he continues to build trust and confidence, his true personality is shining through. Fred enjoys the company of his brother (Felix), his foster doggie friend (another Sato), and does well interacting with cats. He has been around a younger child and had no issues interacting, just a little hesitant. Fred does great riding in the car and has been a part of many road trips! He loves his toys, enjoys naps, and is a happy little guy. He likes to explore and if his ears get any bigger he may even learn to fly! 😜Fred will continue to work on all training concepts. Structure goes far with praise and proper direction provided. (The father of the litter is unknown and possible idea of who mom may be).
