My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Baloo, a gentle giant with a heart as big as his frame! This large breed Bullmastiff is incredibly strong and full of love, but he needs an experienced adopter who can provide him with the specialized animal-kind training he requires. Baloo has faced challenges with a previous leg injury, so he'll thrive in a home where his health and mobility can be carefully managed. Due to his size and strength, he's not suited for a household with small dogs or cats, but he more than makes up for it with his affectionate nature. Baloo absolutely adores cuddling and will make a loyal companion for someone ready to embrace his sweet, gentle demeanor. If you're looking for a devoted friend who's eager to share his love, Baloo might just be the perfect addition to your family!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
