Meet Fergie, a female German Shepherd mix!

Fergie came in as a stray and was somewhat shy when she arrived to the shelter, but has been gaining more and more confidence every day. Fergie is a little unsure of the leash at times, but if you are gentle with her, she is gentle right back! This sweet girl loves to go outside, and when she does her personality shines bright and she will just come right over to relax with you in the sun and steal some love and cuddles!

Our adopters tell us that our professional staff are warm, friendly, informative and patient as they assist adopters in finding a furever match. Our mission is to help you find a pet that meets your expectations and lifestyle. You’re invited to visit with a prospective pet in one of our "Meet N' Greet" rooms. We also offer "Meet N' Greets" for adopters wishing to introduce a current dog to a potential new playmate.

The adoption fees help offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals that need our help. We do our best to keep adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for animals available for adoption until we can place them in a loving home. Adoption fees help provide medical care, food and shelter to the animals in our care.

The Yakima Humane Society was founded in 1904, becoming an incorporated entity in 1906. We are a private, nonprofit animal welfare organization proud to be serving the people and animals of Yakima County for over 100 years. We practice and promote the humane treatment of animals through animal control services, pet adoption, humane education, information, referral and quality animal care.
