My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue

www.cairnrescue.com

Hi, everybody! My name is Wiley and I am looking for my furever home. I have been with my foster mom and foster brothers for a week now and already I feel so much safer! I am wrestling, chasing, playing tug and chewing all the chewy toys. I love to play and when I wear out my foster brothers, I play by myself. I am still a little worried about being alone so my foster mom and brothers go with me outside to go potty. I always go potty outside, I’m just a little nervous about being alone. I sleep all night in my crate and know how to sit for treats and dinner. I love sitting on my human’s lap. My foster mom says I have beautiful fur that makes me look like a wolf! Can I please come live with you? I will give you lots of snuggles and love you to the moon and back. UPDATE 6/4/2024: Wiley here, just dreaming about my furever home. I can’t wait to have my very own humans to snuggle with! I love snugggling, playing ball, wrestling, and treats! I have been getting lots of treats while learning to sit and stay. I am also working on not jumping up, but I can’t help jumping when breakfast and dinner are being fixed. I LOVE to eat. I am just a young pup (2 yr old) so I am a work in progress. I hope I can continue my training with my new family. I love going for walks and meeting new people. Everyone I meet compliments my unique fur and tells me how cute I am. Can I be your cute snuggle bug?

**** FOSTER HOMES NEEDED! ****

YOU can make a huge difference by fostering just one dog. ONE dog, ONE time a year = ONE life that could be saved! Each and everyday we have the opportunity to save more Cairns in need, but we can't do it if we don't have the Foster Homes to place them in. Would you like to learn more on how you can help?

'Saving just one dog won't change the world, but it surely will change the world for that one dog.'

More about this rescue

We are NOT A SHELTER with a single physical location. Instead, we are a national network of volunteers working to help re-home Cairns in need.
We began as a small internet community of people trying to help one of their members through the heartache of losing a little Cairn named Col. Potter. In the weeks that followed that simple process of showing care and support, a national Cairn terrier rescue was born. It filled a void to serve a wonderful, randomly protected, and sometimes misunderstood breed. Cairns can have every kind of personality, from laid back to intensely lively; most fall somewhere in between.

Our rescue attracts caring foster homes who will provide guidance and love; sometimes for the first time in a rescued Cairn's life. Our foster homes also provide an honest, realistic evaluation of each Cairn's personality, so an approved applicant can expect to be matched with a Cairn whose traits and behaviors fit their lifestyle.

At present, Col. Potter has just under 200 foster homes all over the United States.
