Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there, I'm Forklift and I work at Menards #girlboss
I was working in the yard one day when something fell on my tail. I couldn't let that slow me down, so I pulled my tail out to get back to work. Turns out I may have girlboss-ed a little too hard...I knew I needed help so I went up to my fellow yard workers. Luckily one of them was a foster dad for AOS! They helped me get all fixed up and healthy. I'm now retired from Menards and ready to take on my next job: your best furry friend:)
Forklift approached an AOS volunteer working at Menards with a severe wound on her tail. Following an emergency vet visit, her tail was amputated. She has healed stupendously! Our vet doesn't anticipate any long-term issues, and there are no differences in her care compared to any other cat. She is very playful and curious: lots of safe things to climb and perch on are a must. Forklift is a lap cat and will jump up on you to play and cuddle. She appears curious about the cats in her foster home, and may do well with other animals. Talk to our volunteers about tips on a slow introduction!
Notes from foster:
Forklift is a kitten. She will nip, scratch, knock things over, and make some messes. She's supposed to! Be ready for kitten-chaos. Forklift is very curious and was found outside. Be careful with outside doors and windows until you get to know her personality. Baby gates by outside doors can help with this.
Forklift loves to climb (towels racks, sinks, couches, people, you name it). She will need plenty of appropriate things to climb such as cat trees and perches. Watch for unsafe places she may jump, such as stove tops.
Please don't see her story and think this is a cat who needs a home because "no one will adopt her." Forklift is a healthy kitten with no long-term medical issues! (If you'd really like to help a cat who will struggle to find a home, look for an older animal, one who needs daily medications, or one who has long-term medical issues :) )
