Pop Tart is a stunning young coonhound/beagle mix with velvety fur, soulful puppy-dog eyes, and an irresistible charm that makes her the perfect cuddle buddy. This lovable girl quickly finds “her person” and happily becomes a devoted little shadow, following them everywhere. At the Center, she formed a special bond with a male caretaker, and in her foster home, she has seamlessly attached herself to the mom becoming a little shadow. She gets along wonderfully with her larger foster dog sibling, eagerly initiating playtime while also knowing when to settle down at her big sister`s cue.
Pop Tart adores tennis balls and loves to unleash her energy with joyful zoomies, especially when the weather is cooler. Her little, white-tipped tail wags enthusiastically at the sight of her favorite humans, radiating pure happiness.
Her foster family has discovered some of her endearing quirks, like her adorable four-legged hop to join them on the couch for movie nights or snuggles. She’s also got a knack for creating her own dining experience—multiple times, she’s carried her dinner bowl from the kitchen to her favorite spot, adding a touch of flair to mealtime, and prompting the family to ask her if she is enjoying, `take out` again.
Pop Tart`s foster home is filled with love, including a dad, a mom, a 10-year-old with severe ADHD, a 6-year-old, and a caring German Shepherd/Doberman mix. This sweet girl is ready to find her forever home, where she can share her snuggles, laughter, and joy. Could you be the one to make her dreams come true?

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
