My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Carter, a 6-year-old, 22-pound Heeler mix with a heart full of love to give. Carter’s life took a tough turn when his dad, who adored him, passed away in hospice care, leaving him alone in their home. Without any family to take him in, Carter was in need of a new start, and that's when Charming Pet found him!

Carter is a calm and quiet companion who gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. He’s already neutered and is awaiting dental care, so he’s well on his way to being in tip-top shape. This well-mannered boy is housebroken and uses a doggy door like a pro, never having had an accident in the house. His foster mom can’t say enough good things about him, calling him the best boy ever!

Carter is ready to bring his gentle spirit and sweet nature into a new home where he can once again be loved and cherished. Anyone would be lucky to have such a good boy like Carter as part of their family!
IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.

Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adopt

All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.

ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location.

Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transport

We understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.September 15, 2024, 6:03 am

More about this rescue

We're a home-based rescue, so there's always someone around to care for the dogs. Most of our dogs are allowed to roam the main yard (as long as they behave themselves), and we have several food and water stations throughout. Every evening, the dogs are tucked into our kennel building with soft bedding.

Our focus is family-friendly dogs who get along with everyone. Of course, we sometimes don't know a dog's temperament until we meet, but we work hard to ensure dogs are going to the right homes for them.

Mission Statement
To provide rescue, rehabilitation and new loving homes for dogs that have been living on the street, abused, abandoned and removed from high kill shelters.
