Rudy Red (AKA RR) has just landed in his foster home. He came from a person who had debilitating health conditions who no longer could care for him. Rudy Red needs a minutet to get to know you. New people need to go very slow with Rudy, but once he knows you are OK his is fine, especially if "his person" is not around. He gets along fine with other dogs and loves "his person" that he has chosen.
RR would do best in a quiet home with a person he can call his own.
Rudy is not a barker but does have a long drawn out howl that sounds like a fog horn! RR seems to be potty trained as long as he's kept on a schedule. He walks well with the harness and leash and cuddles with the other dogs in the house but is a bit unsure about playing. He lived with another dog in his previous home so maybe like with people, he just needs a little time to get to make new dog friends.

All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Rudy Red will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.
Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.
Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.
DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
