My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stewart has been a fantastic companion for me since I returned home from Iraq in February. I knew I would be leaving again for Afghanistan in a few months, but I wanted to foster a dog and EBARR was happy to accommodate my unusual request. I figured that having a dog around would help me to relax and ease my transition into a new deployment. Stewie was just the right dog for me - when we met the first thing that the EBARR volunteer said was 'He's a runner!'. I thought, 'That's perfect, I'm a runner!'. Since Stewie and I have been paired up he has logged plenty of miles all over Contra Costa County. He likes to run, but he's not an endurance dog and prefers narrow uncrowded trails. He even accompanied me to Tahoe for a few days and got to try out his snow-legs. Stewie has also spent lots of time playing with my friend's young children and baby as well as their three large mixed-breed dogs. Though Stewie loves to nibble at me when he plays, he had no issues with the children or with the dogs - in fact, Stewie LOVES playing with big dogs! Stewie has also been to Doggie Day Camp several times with no issues. Terriers are known for their boundless energy, but when it's time to relax he is more than happy to zonk out on the couch and watch Animal Planet.
