My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Drifter.

Hi, I'm a one year old Poodle who was dumped in a crate with five small dogs about two months ago. Don't worry because I have forgotten all about that and I LOVE people!!

I was boarded at Camo's rescue facility for the past two months where I got neutered, vaccinated, and treated for worms. I am healthy and very playful.

I have only been with my new foster mom and foster dog brothers for two days. According to my foster mom, here's how it's going.

I have slept the past two nights in my kennel without making any fuss or noise.
I am obsessed with food and have probably gotten in 50,000 steps with circles around the living room looking for anything else edible. I peed on the rug by the back door the first night but have gone outside to potty since then. My foster mom asked me what the heck is wrong with me because I peed twice on the concrete patio instead of the entire yard. I have gone in the grass too. I don't know why I like this spot.

I went to doggy daycare yesterday and the workers all loved me. My new friends were all a bit older and so I did my zoomies all around them. I have shown no aggression and just want to love everyone.

Odie, my foster brother, gave me a correction bark. He said it was how some awesome older dog named Cooper taught him to "stop acting like a lunatic. It worked. I slept beside him for a while this morning. He showed me what a squirrel is and told me I should want to chase it.

I entertain myself with some stuffed animals, a rope toy, and some nylabones.

I walk well on a leash. I can pee a little when I meet a new person. I like riding in the car.

I am learning that I cannot treat a human hand like a stuffed animal. My foster mom is taking me to meet a trainer to work on some manners. She said not everyone will want me jumping on them, but I think they'll want me in their lap if I keep trying.

I weigh around 20 pounds and you can feel my skeleton at the moment. I'm eating well and may get to 25-30 pounds when I get to my ideal weight.

Thank you for reading my story. My adoption fee is $450 which is a small price to pay for a guy who comes vetted and neutered and heartworm free.

Adoption fee is: $450

ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com.

More about this rescue

CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers life, health, and a forever home. We specialize in dogs that other rescues can’t or won’t take due to fearful nature or medical needs. We primarily rescue ‘euthanasia listed’ animals that are in immediate danger of death. We provide shots, spay/neuter, microchip, foster homes, food, medical treatment and love to dogs that are abandoned, unwanted or otherwise in need. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another. In addition to caring for our dogs and finding the best possible home for them, we provide education to the community; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership. If needed, our rescue dogs are retrained to socialize in an adoptive loving family. We have had phenomenal success, and amazing support from our community. We believe that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for them. We are partnered with many Shelters to help them reach the same goal.
