Meet Lucy, part of a dynamic duo of 4-year-old Shepherd/Shar Pei mixes who are as loving as they are inseparable. Lucy has a brown and black coat.
Lucy is the more dog-reactive of the two and is very strong on the leash, while Ruby is also not great with other dogs and can have difficulties making friends. When Ruby tries to interact with other dogs, Lucy often gets upset, so they must stay together in a home without other dogs.
Both Lucy and Ruby are not suited for homes with cats and should ideally be in environments without young children, as Lucy can be nippy if she feels her space is being intruded upon. Despite their challenges, they are a devoted pair who will bring loyalty and affection to the right home where they can thrive together.

2. Ace of Hearts will call you for an interview
3. We'll schedule a private meet and greet or have you attend on of our adoption events
4. We'll schedule a home check (our adoption agreement must be completed in order to schedule the house check to assure that you agree with our contract)
5. If approved, we'll have you do a 3-5 day trial before you commit to adopt (dog will come with all supplies needed)
6. If all goes well, we'll finalize the adoption by giving you an adoption speech and collect the adoption fee (you will return or reimburse us for the supplies)
The adoption fee is a tax-deductible $500, all dogs are current on shots, spayed/neutered and microchipped.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs from various Los Angeles shelters the day they are to be euthanized. Our goal is to help provide animals with a second chance to a happy life and to help reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs. Once rescued, we place our dogs into loving foster homes while they await adoption. We do not keep dogs in kennels. Placing the dogs in foster homes is the first step to rehabilitation, as it allows us to thoroughly evaluate a dog's demeanor and needs enabling us to make the perfect match of dog and permanent owner. We attribute our high rate of successful placement to our foster program. At Ace of Hearts, we do not discriminate against any breed, including those in the bully breed family. Additionally, Ace of Hearts is dedicated to educating the public on how to be responsible pet owners and on the importance of spaying and neutering. We believe the real solution to pet overpopulation is through spaying and neutering pets.
