More about this rescue

At Rescue Ridge Dog Rescue of Alabama, our mission is to transform the lives of abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs in rural East Alabama and West Georgia. We provide essential veterinary care, safe and nurturing housing, training and daily physical and mental enrichment. Through human and animal socialization, we prepare dogs for adoption into loving, permanent homes. Our goal is to provide a personalized adoption experience to ensure every dog finds their perfect match, preventing them from becoming a failed rescue statistic. We also support our community by funding spay/neuter services, educating on responsible dog ownership while serving as a vital resource to our area which lacks a county and city animal shelter.

Our Founder Michelle Wagner
Michelle has been a huge animal lover since she was a child. She grew up in Dallas Georgia , Paulding County.
Michelle spent many years working in rescue as a kennel manager and is very savvy with bully breeds. She moved to rural Randolph County in East Alabama to be closer to family, While living here Michelle started to realize the huge dog overpopulation and abandonment problem that plagued the county along with the lack of resources such as animal control facilities and low-cost vet and spay neuter services. Michelle decided to start her own all-volunteer small dog rescue to do her part with helping the dogs in this county. There is no city or county animal control here so they are left helpless on the streets. Michelle started this rescue and became a 501(c)3 on May 28, 2024. Michelle does a wonderful job caring for her dogs and spends lots of time socializing and training them.
Michelle is always looking for committed loving homes so if you are interested in adopting please reach out! Rescue Ridge runs on personal donations which are tax deductible. Michelle is excited to work with the community to spread awareness and lessen the number of dogs in need!
