My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The dog of your dreams!

Hello friends! My name is Venice, like your dream destination. I am 2 years old, a female spayed Chihuahua mix. I am a light little 9 lb girl. I was found roaming the streets by the San Diego pet recovery specialist Babs Fry. I have been at my foster home since then. I am crate trained, and working on bathroom and leash training.

I am a total cutie, shy initially but energetic once I am comfortable. It will be zoomies all around! Decompression time is helpful for me. I adore playing with toys. Keep those pens away will ya, cuz I enjoy chewing them! I have been lighting up my foster home with my love and affection. I get along very well with cats! I don't have a lot of experience yet, but should be good with dogs too. Same goes for kids, but maybe older ones are better because of my skittish nature.

I am really looking forward to a loving home where I will be treated like a princess. I will make you fall in love with my sweetness! Once I get the potty training and leash training down, I will be the perfect dog. A mellow home, with plenty of playtime will be great for me. If you'd like to me your furever, let's meet! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
