Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Kurt was surrendered to WHS in October after he recieved an unexpected medical diagnosis which left his owner unable to care for him. Our friends at the Pet Care Clinic of the High Country were immediately willing to help, and boarded him at their facility for treatment and monitoring while they worked out the specifics of his care. They took great care of our (not so little) man, and even sent us this message for any family potentially interested in bringing Kurt home:
`Meet Kurt!
Kurt is a 15-month-old Domestic Shorthair (DSH) who has captured the hearts of everyone at our clinic. Despite facing some medical challenges, he is a joyful, playful, and loving cat. He is looking for a special family to give him the forever home he deserves.
Medical Information Kurt has a collapsed disc space at L3-L4, with his vertebrae fusing together. As a result, he has neurological deficits in his rear legs, which may affect his coordination and mobility. •Current Treatment: o He has been treated with steroids to reduce inflammation. o He has also received an antibiotic for a urinary tract infection (UTI), which is now resolved. o No signs of pain: Despite his condition, Kurt runs around the clinic and seems to be enjoying life to the fullest.
Personality and Behavior Kurt is incredibly sweet and loved by all of our staff. He is curious, playful, and loves attention. Despite his neurological deficits, Kurt remains happy and active, showing no signs of discomfort or pain.
What to Expect in a Forever Home • Kurt’s neurological condition is likely permanent, and he may always have some mobility challenges. However, he seems to have adapted well and continues to thrive. • He will need a family who can monitor his mobility and ensure he stays comfortable and healthy. Occasional veterinary follow-ups may be needed to manage any future health concerns related to his condition.
Why Adopt Kurt? Kurt is a special cat who is full of love and life despite his challenges. He would make a wonderful companion for someone willing to give him the care and affection he deserves. His sweet nature and resilience are truly inspiring, and we know he will bring joy and love to any home,`
