My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: Perkasie, PA.

If interested, please contact the foster home. Petfinder Profiles doesn’t  always work.

Groot is a charming 10-month-old heeler mix who might remind you of the loyal Marvel character he’s named after. At just 25 pounds, he’s on the smaller side but carries a calm demeanor that sets him apart from many high-energy cattle dogs. Groot is both potty and crate trained, though he prefers exploring alongside his human and dog family and being outside of the crate as much as possible.

He’s a quick learner and already knows commands like “sit,” “crate,” and “hugs” when he’s feeling extra affectionate. Groot came to his foster family a bit fearful of loud noises and new places, but he’s made incredible progress and has blossomed in just a few short weeks.

Groot is a bit reserved around cats but is very affectionate with playful dogs and children. Given his energetic nature and his current learning phase regarding personal space, he would thrive best in a home with older, or at least larger kids. Although he only nips or bites during playtime, it’s advisable to supervise him around younger children.

This handsome boy will thrive in a home where he receives plenty of love, pets, and daily moderate exercise. Groot is already getting the hang of fetch and enjoys hikes, showing great recall. He will do well with confident owners or a calm, confident canine sibling to help him navigate the world.

By the time of adoption, Groot will have been dewormed, received all age-appropriate vaccinations (including rabies), and been microchipped. He is already neutered and ready to find his forever home.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
