My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Calypso was brought in by a community member on July 20, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Calypso, a sweet and playful girl who can't wait to be your new best friend! This affectionate pup loves to solicit attention with an adorable nose boop and will happily shower you with kisses. She's a bundle of energy, often jumping up and down to play, and she's also a great walking companion. Calypso knows "Sit" and is highly food-motivated, making her a joy to train. Currently healing from a few medical issues, she's looking for a peaceful home where she can finish her recovery. Calypso will need to continue her medications as prescribed and will require some dental care in the near future. Until she's fully healed, she'll need to be kept away from other dogs. Don't forget to bring a leash and collar when you come to meet this lovable girl!

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. Calypso is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
