My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the James St. Litter!
Harry J, Della J, Ella J, Leona J, Moxie J, Vickie J, and Tori J.
Everyone of them a sweet adorable cuddly puppy!!

These babies were abandoned in a backyard in the terrible Texas heat with no food or water before being rescued. Thank goodness none are showing any health issues and all have healthy appetites.

The pups are working house training and do well crated together. This litter had a whole community caring for them prior to being placed in foster homes, so they all have social personalities.

Tori is adorable, fun, and a busy ball of energy. She is getting a lot of time with her foster family and foster siblings—and she has so much personality! She is very sweet and curious, catches on to new things quickly, loves to play with toys, and is learning to walk on a leash. She gets several long walks each day followed by naps. She sleeps all night in a crate with her sibling.

Tori likes to sit on your lap, but be prepared with toys to distract her so she doesn’t nibble fingers or anything you are holding. She is taken outside to potty after naps, etc. and is pretty much house trained.

Tori loves to interact with her large canine foster siblings large dogs. She loves the local cat, but she wants to playa bit rougher than the cat does.

As with all puppies, she needs to be kept busy with lots of toys and safe things to chew on, and she needs supervision unless in a crate or an enclosure that is puppy-proof. Her new family will need to continue her basic training and socialization to she grows up to be her best doggie self!

The adoption fee also includes the transport fee.

ATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are experienced dog owners and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for the benefit of you and your puppy, so if you experience behavior issues, you have a point of contact.

PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so important in this puppy's life. Do you have the time?

Please consider purchasing this book before adopting.  Perfect Puppy in 7 Days - How to Start Your Puppy Off Right, Sophia Yin, DVM - it is an amazing book that we recommend very highly and have had amazing feedback on.

More about this rescue

PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.

Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
