Meet Poe! This guy came to us from a shelter partner at about 3 weeks old, when he was failing to thrive with his littermates. After a few months of TLC, he began hitting all his mile stones! Fast forward to his neuter surgery, the doctor detected a grade 5 out of 6 heart murmur - this required further evaluation. After having an echocardiogram, we learned he has a condition called severe pulmonic stenosis. What does this mean for Poe? Well, it means he will inevitably have a shortened life expectancy. Does that mean his life will be any less full? Heck no! Right now, you'd have no idea Poe has a massive heart defect. He runs, jumps, plays, and does all the things a 'normal' puppy does. Poe's family will need to be committed to giving daily oral medication to control how hard his heart is pumping, and have a good relationship with their vet to stay on top of routine monitoring of his heart.
Poe has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He recently had an echocardiogram with a specialist, and will come with a supply of medication for his heart. He will also come with 6 months of heartworm prevention for his new owners.
