Meet Tucker - A Gentle Giant with a Heart of Gold!

Tucker is an 80-pound chocolate lab mix with an affectionate nature and a playful spirit! Don't let his size fool you; Tucker is as gentle as they come and loves to make friends with everyone he meets.

Social Butterfly:
Tucker has been a star at adoption events, meeting small, medium, and large dogs with ease and even a little playfulness! In his previous home, he lived peacefully with cats, so he's open to all kinds of furry siblings.

Kid-Approved:
This friendly boy adores children! Tucker is calm and relaxed around kids of all ages, soaking up the squeals and laughter with ease.

Sweet & Smart:
Tucker knows "sit" and takes treats like a perfect gentleman. He loves chasing a ball (though he's still figuring out the "fetch" part!) and will even shake paws for extra love. Plus, when a siren goes by, he loves to "sing along - an adorable trait that'll melt your heart!

On the Go:
Tucker is a big fan of car rides! He loves sticking his head out the window, feeling the wind in his fur and taking in the sights.

Adopt-A-Pet Events in the Kansas City Area

Cat adoptions are held at the PetSmart at 115th and Metcalf in Overland Park KS every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00. Cats available for adoption every day at PetSmart in-store cage area.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Olathe KS at 119th and Strang Line, every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Lee's Summit MO at 920 NE Sam Walton Lane, also every Saturday from 12:00 and 3:00.

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs).
