My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello World!

I’m Energetic and Endearing Emmy, an adorable and happy little bichon pup who is a bundle of love weighing 12 pounds and a year and a half old. I love everybody (big and small, I like them all!) and everything -- and I am always interested in what is going on around me. Mom says I’m a goofy, happy, loving and all-around great puppy who is big on having fun and equally big on loving. (Can you tell she kind of likes me?)

I love to run (and when it’s nice) sun in the yard – and try to play with my doggy foster siblings. They are much older and not as interested in playing as I am. (Dad says they are a bit grumpy but I try to convince them to play anyway!) I like to play with toys and can entertain myself – but I’d really, really like another young pup to play with please. Mom is working on teaching me to fetch. Right now she does a pretty good job of fetching (but I’m learning how to do it, too!).

Because I’m a youngster I still have lots of things to explore and learn. As a result, I keep quite busy all day long. I try to engage all of the pups in our house and I love when Dad comes home from work. I do my best to show him how adorable and loving I can be (And he agrees I am, too!)

When I meet people I look right at them. Then they stop and tell me how cute I am and I do my best to be even cuter! Mom and Dad say to mention that I’m smart, sweet and eager to please! Did I mention I only weigh 12 pounds and that I like to snuggle and cuddle -- and give lots of kisses? When you sit down I lay on your lap, stretch out as much as I can, show my belly then bury my face for loves. Mom says I have a zest for life and love to give doggy kisses to everyone!

Besides playing and cuddling I also am learning to go for walks and rides in the car. I’m still a ‘work in process’ when it comes to walking so I’ll need someone who can be patient and consistent with me.

My Ideal Home:

*Someone home most of the time

*Another active, playful dog around my age

*A family with teenagers would be great – but respectful younger children are ok

Experience level:

*Have had dogs as an adult

*Recent/current dog experience a plus

I’m working very hard to become a perfect pup so that I can soon have a Forever Family of my own who will love and cherish me like Mom and Dad do --and make me a part of their lives.

So if you like to be loved and entertained, have another young and energetic pup that can be my friend, please complete our adoption application and ask for me. I’ll be working on all my manners and waiting with all my heart.

Tail wags and kisses,

Energetic, Endearing and Enthusiastic Emmie

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Our Adoption Procedure: We require a written application at www.bichonfurkids.org

2.

Approve Application

All applications are screened and responded to by an Applications Coordinator.

3.

Home Check

We require a home/yard safety check which is done with a checklist and photos due to COVID restrictions.

4.

Approve Application

Once approved, our Placement Volunteers get in touch then forward applications that appear to be a good fit to the foster parents

5.

Meet the Pet

They then contact adopters to schedule a virtual adoption visit prior to an adoption visit held outdoors in keeping with COVID requirements

Additional adoption info

Prospective adopters must complete an online application available on our web site. A volunteer then conducts a telephone interview to review the application, followed by requesting a home and yard safety check. Once that has been completed - and if the prospective adopter is approved -the Placement staff will talk with the approved adopter to provide information regarding pups in our foster program that may represent a fit. That will be followed by the foster Moms and Dads contacting the approved adopter to answer questions and schedule an adoption visit at the foster home.

We require an adoption contract for each furkid plus the adoption donation. The fee for pups over one year of age
is $400.00 and is tax-deductible. The adoption fee for our puppies is $500. Our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated when adopted and come with an 'adoption kit' which includes a bed, blanket, pillow, leash, collar, vitamins, toy and treats.

Donations beyond our adoption fee are also appreciated so that we can rescue and save more lives.

Go meet their pets

Our pets are all cared for in loving foster homes. While in foster care, the foster family ensures that they receive lots of tender loving care, have any medical needs addressed, get lots of exercise and training. This gives the foster family an opportunity to learn about each pup's personality so we can develop a bio that describes the furkid. In turn that knowledge enables us to better assist you in selecting a dog that will be the best fit for you and your family.

More about this rescue

Bichon FurKids Rescue focuses on Bichon Frises and Bichon mixes in need of forever homes. We rescue from local shelters, as well as provide services for pets who are surrendered directly to us. Our dogs are cared for in foster homes where they learn to be socialized, housebroken and to become part of a family. Our services are highly personalized - and we work directly with our volunteers to help rescued dogs successfully transition to new homes and lives.
