Meet Papaya, a sweet 5-year-old Pitbull who was surrendered along with another dog on 8/1/24. Despite having an old injury to her back leg, Papaya has shown incredible resilience and is currently in foster care recovering from ACL surgery. She is very affectionate and eager to please, enjoying pets and following commands like come, sit, and focus. Papaya remains gentle and neutral when taking treats from hand. She’s ready to find a loving home where she can continue to thrive.
Papaya is the sweetest girlie ever! She begs for attention constantly and will sit and stare at you if you stop petting her. She is very calm and has a mellow demeanor. She seems potty trained and walks well on a leash. She does not mind her paws, ears, or tail being touched and really just enjoys the attention. Papaya is definitely a people dog and happily greets anyone willing to pet her.
When Papaya was introduced to a cat. She was not interested in sniffing any of the cats. With some encouragement, she did go up to an orange cat. When the cat hissed and swatted at her, she backed away and wanted pets from us for support. I think Papaya would do well with cats. We tested Papaya with Kabob. She did have hackles up at first but it seemed to be from excitement. She was really calm when she sniffed Kabob and allowed him to sniff her too, with no issues. Then she wanted attention from the people in the room. Papaya seems dog friendly but might do best with a dog that will coexist with her.
