My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy

-**Lucy, 12+ Year-Old Donkey Mare**

- **Name**: Lucy

- **Age**: 12+ years old

- **Breed**: Donkey

- **Gender**: Mare

- **Height**: 13hh

**About Lucy**:

Lucy is a gentle and endearing donkey mare with a sweet but shy disposition. At over 12 years old, she’s developed a special affinity for horses, particularly mares, and she forms deep bonds with her equine companions. While Lucy enjoys the company of other donkeys, she truly thrives when she's around horses, making her an ideal companion for a horse that needs a loyal, calm friend.

**Special Notes**:

Though she’s a bit shy, Lucy is incredibly kind and soft-hearted. With time and patience, she warms up and becomes a wonderful, dependable companion. Her new family should understand her gentle nature and be willing to give her the time she needs to feel comfortable and secure in her new environment.

**Ideal Home**:

Lucy would be happiest in a home where she can bond with other mares, particularly horses, as she feels most at ease in their company. An environment where she can enjoy the companionship of her equine friends, with plenty of space to roam and a calm, patient handler, would be perfect for her. Her new owner should appreciate her unique preference for horses and be ready to help her continue to blossom in a loving and understanding home.

**Why Adopt Lucy**:

Adopting Lucy means welcoming a sweet, loyal companion into your life. She may be a bit shy, but her gentle nature and special bond with horses make her a wonderful addition to any farm or stable. With the right care and companionship, Lucy will become a cherished member of your equine family, offering quiet, steady companionship to her new herd and bringing a touch of sweetness to your daily routine.

Additional adoption info

Please allow up to 72 hours for a response.

Adopting one of our dogs requires that you fill out an adoption application, have your references checked, and let us visit your home.

The required minimum adoption donation is $250. That amount covers the spay/neuter, annual vaccinations, heartworm testing, and one month of heart worm preventative.

We spend about $300.00 just to treat the pommies that are heartworm positive. We have invested more than $1000.00 in several of our pommies--treating them and kenneling them. Kenneling cost $16 a day per dog. We need foster homes!
