My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spot
I warn you, gentle reader, the interviewer lady fell in love with me, so she tends to get all mushy in her stories. She is also appalled by the fact my owners surrendered me after six years as unwanted. Hey, I don't want to live where I'm unwanted! I started my journey when I was found as a stray, 3-month-old kitten. I got adopted and lived with my family for six years. At some point, my owners brought two new dogs into the home, which was a constant source of stress for me. Add the stress-induced UTI that I developed, and you have one unhappy kitty cat. I am now 6-years-old and ready to start a new chapter. I am neutered, and before the dogs came on board, I was good with my litterbox. I live in an HSHC condo and eat a diet designed to support bladder and kidney health. When the interviewer lady (IL) met me today, I quickly left my bed to come and sniff her. I took an immediate shine to her and accepted all the pets and chin rubs she gave me. The IL told me I was aptly named, considering my white coat had many black spots. When I flopped over onto my back, the IL sort of squealed in delight, as I am a big fan of belly and chest rubs. I purred and purred as she continued stroking my tummy. Finally, I decided to curl up on her lap to be as close as possible. I let my head hang down backward off her legs and slowly slid back into my condo. Again, the IL exclaimed her pleasure with me! She said someone would be fortunate to adopt me and receive my loving attention. Who am I to question the IL? 10-7-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
