Hi! I'm Denali! I'm from Texas.

Meet Denali!

Denali is a playful and sweet terrier mix. She enjoys quality time with her foster humans and playing with her foster dog siblings. She's very curious about the world, and aware of her surroundings. Sometimes she will ask for a quick snuggle when she's feeling overwhelmed by new things, but then gets right back to exploring. Denali is a smart pup, and learned sit in just a few hours. She's sweet and gentle and wants to be rewarded with love.

After an initial bit of shyness in her first hour home, Denali was sweet and excited to receive love. She loves to snuggle in your lap and chew a toy and give lots and lots of kisses. She's a big fan of activities where she gets to be close to her humans: snuggling on the couch, you hold the toy while she chews, or exploring new spaces together.

She's also great with other dogs! We did a slow introduction to my two resident dogs (2.5 year old male husky/lab mix) and (3 year old female cattle dog mix). Denali did great! She was cautious but very sweet with both of them, and then got quite excited! She has a lot of puppy energy once she feels safe (nipping, excited jumping at other dog's faces). She's very dog friendly, but does need to learn appropriate play manners. So she'd do well with the other dogs who are patient and able to help her learn or other puppies who just want to romp around.

Denali has been described as "shy. But the extent of that is that she seems a bit timid around scary noises and unknown humans (especially tall ones) approaching her quickly. All she does in response is duck and cower a bit, but she warms up within a minute.

Denali is almost potty trained, she hasn't had an accident in days. But she does need someone to help keep her on a schedule as she continues to learn where/when it is ok to do her business. Denali does have some puppy nipping that she is working through, but loves being redirected to a chew toy or bone.

Denali is such a sweet and smart girl! We are so excited for her to find her forever home.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
