My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Sarge and my story is sad one....

I was found on the side of the road in crate. Hot and starving, I was completely emaciated. Some kind folks found me and notified Lucies, thank God. They got me to the vet...the doc didn't think I was going to make it. I weighed in 40lbs and that's not good for a dog my size.

A very loving and kind woman who just happens to be the matriarch of Lucies brought me into her home and slowly nursed me back to health. There's a lot of love and caring in that woman...she was my angel and saving grace. I would have never survived without her.

Now, I am in awesome health and ready for adoption!

A few notes about me:
I do NOT like cats. (Sorry my feline friends)
I am a fantastic watch dog!
I love to have playmates.
I can sit, stay and shake hands.
I'm super affectionate.
I love to play with tennis balls!!
I'm housebroken.

With all those traits, how could you not want to adopt me!!

*** We strive to ensure our dogs are going to a safe, loving and caring home. Phone interviews are required for all adoptions****

Additional adoption info

Interested adopters contact our adoption volunteer either via email or phone. Our volunteer in turn talks to them more about the pet they are interested in. If the adopter seems like a good match, they are requested to complete an application. They come to the rescue location to meet the dog of interest. We also sometimes arrange a home visit to make sure the environment is suitable for the dog. If all is well, they will get a call from a volunteer letting them know they are approved for adoption. They will be provided copies of the vaccination and sterilization records. A delivery day will be arranged for the dog. Either the adopter may come and pick up the dog, or a volunteer can arrange to have the dog delivered. They sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. We do periodically contact our adopters to check up on the dog to make sure everyone is happy and healthy and enjoying their new life!

More about this rescue

Local Unity for Canines In Emergency Situations. We are a dog rescue organization, not a shelter or a pound!

We are a group of neighbors who, as a community effort, are helping the many strays and dumped dogs in the area. We take them in, care for them, feed - vaccinate - worm - socialize, and try to find them forever homes. We do depend on donations to help out, and will accept food, medication, bedding, fostering, and direct donations to Veterinarians.
