My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This 2.5-year-old handsome fellow is ready to steal your heart with his sweet and playful nature. Luigi is a true charmer who loves to explore his surroundings and will shower you with affection in the form of head butts and plenty of purrs! His adorable pink-and-black nose is just the cherry on top of his already lovable personality.

Luigi is very friendly and loves to be around people. If he hears you moving around in another room, he may let out a little sad meow—his way of saying, "Hey, come hang out with me!" He's eager for companionship and ready to be your new best friend. Luigi is reportedly good with dogs, but since we don’t have any dogs around to confirm, he’ll need a proper introduction if you have a canine buddy at home.

A Little About FIV:
Luigi is FIV-positive, but don't let that deter you! FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a manageable condition, and many FIV-positive cats live long, healthy, and happy lives just like any other cat. FIV is not easily spread; it mainly passes through deep bite wounds, so with proper care and regular vet check-ups, Luigi can lead a normal life. He's asymptomatic and ready to bring joy and companionship to a loving home.

If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly, and curious companion who will greet you with head butts and endless purrs, Luigi might just be the perfect match for you. Come meet this special boy and see if he’s the missing piece to your family puzzle! Luigi is best as the only cat in his home.

Additional adoption info

The Adoption Process
- Fill out an application for your potential new family member
- One of our volunteers will review the submitted application and do their best to respond within 48 hours
- We will check personal and veterinary records (if applicable)
- After checking references, we will then look to schedule a home visit (for dogs only)
- If the animal is a good match, then a meet and greet will be setup – usually at the foster home or the Cambridge or Millbury PetSmart adoption centers
- We like to have all family members attend
- Finally, the last step if to complete the adoption paperwork and to bring your new family member home

Here are a few items for people to consider before deciding to adopt:

- Renters must have their landlord’s permission
- Adopters must be 21 years of age or older
- All adoptive homes must be stable, supportive, and capable to meet all veterinary and financial needs of the animal
- Some adoptions will require adopters to enroll the dog in training classes as a condition of adoption, however we encourage training for ALL adopted dogs.
- Kittens younger than 6 months must be adopted with another kitten/cat or go to a home with a resident cat for socialization
- There may be additional adoption requirements for puppies (puppy socialization classes, someone home during the day, etc)

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

All of our dogs for adoption are in foster homes. You must fill out an adoption application before being considered for adoption. Once your application is received, the foster parent will contact you to discuss whether the animal would be a good fit for your home and set up a meet between your family and the pet.

We also house several cats in our adoption center at the Cambridge PetSmart. Stop by to play with them Tues-Friday from 6pm-8pm and 12-2pm Sunday!
