Hi! I’m Pepi (peppy), a two year old shepherd/husky mix. I was a reservation stray, until some nice people picked me up and moved me into a warm house! I showed my gratitude by delivering 9 little puppies a week later. Now that they’ve grown, I’m looking for a place to crash permanently! I have LOTS of puppy-like energy still! I’d love to find someone who will go on tons of walks and adventures, but I wouldn’t mind hanging at home either. What I need most is someone able to give me consistent expectations and a routine. I am food motivated so should be able to learn all of the tricks with some time, training, and most importantly, tasty treats!! I happily jump in for rides in the car, however longer rides can make me anxious. I like to ride in the front seat for this reason.
My foster mom says I’m a fun-loving dog, basically I think she means that I’m up for anything! I have been doing really well on walks as long as you use a harness. I can be very impatient and will require a strong handler and further training. I can get excited when I see people, but if you help me stay focused I can keep it together (mostly)! I’m potty trained if I’m kept on a schedule. I’m a good girl in my kennel and I sleep through the night there but I do think I would much rather cuddle up in bed with you! I don’t cause MUCH trouble when I’m left out of the kennel while I’m home alone. I’m an intense rough-houser, so nobody under 20 lbs at this time. I can also be selective with my friends and I’m way too much energy for a lot of dogs. I probably will never be a dog park candidate or a good candidate for a house where lots of dogs visit. Any of my potential siblings will require a slow intro so that I can judge them from a distance.
I’m okay with cats, but do sometimes get in my head to play chase. I LOVE kids, but again, I’m big and rough, so some little kids might not like me much. I love getting right up in your personal space and getting pets, especially a good belly rub! I absolutely love giving you all the kisses in the world! I love everyone I meet and will instantly give them kisses as well!
I wouldn’t mind being an only child. When I’m on my own, I’m very chill! I love laying out in the sunshine or watching TV on the couch with you. Introduce another dog, and my energy level doubles though! My foster mom says I need some consistency and continued training to feel secure. There are lots of dogs in my current home and sometimes my behavior reflects that.
Overall I’m a happy-go-lucky gal, the name Pepi suits me very well! If you’re looking for someone to add some excitement to your life, let me know! I’d love to meet you!
We’ve got some exciting news about this pup’s age! Thanks to DNA testing from Embark, we’ve got a fresh take on how old they really are. A big shoutout to Embark for generously donating these tests for us to explore! You might spot a difference between Embark's findings and our original guess—after all, no test or person is 100% accurate. It’s all part of the adventure!
