My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mr. Cantino is one handsome tuxedo wearing fellow. What he wants is to run around, play with toys, eat lots of treats and hunker down for a night of TV, the only issue is, he is a bit of a nervous nelly. Don't tell him we said that.

Cantino will need a nice quiet home with a patient person or two to coax him out of his shell. Once he trusts you, he will forever be in your debt and will pay you back with unconditional love.

Poor Cantino doesn't even know this sort of life is an option, are you the right person to show him how wonderful life can be? He sure hopes so.

For adoption applications:

1. Submit an online application and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit. Kindly note that due to the high number of applications, we will only be contacting suitable potential adopters to further review their interest.

OR

2. Visit the Surrey BC SPCA at 16748 50 Ave, to meet Cantino to learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person.

If you are invited to meet Cantino please come prepared with a cat carrier as we do same-day adoptions if the meet goes well. We recommend being prepared with a litter bin, litter, food and water dishes, and toys before bringing your new family member home.

More about this shelter

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
