PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
11/21/24 ***Zara graduates from Paws in Prison in a few short weeks. We need to have an adopter waiting for her.***
Zara is rushing to greet you. She thought you were never coming home. Because you were gone forever. Like for months and years. Actually, you were at the store for a half hour. But it’s all the same to her. You’re her human, and she missed you! Just think, you could get a joyous welcome like this every time you come home. What a mental health booster! Zara is ready. All you have to do is apply. She turns 1 year old on 12/1/24. She’s a bully breed mix. And her love is as obvious as the black and white on her coat. She is sunshine, big smiles and warm hugs. And she’s waiting on you to make a move.
Prior to coming into rescue, she lived outside. She is very much still a puppy and learning that not everything goes in her mouth. She is a very sweet girl and loves all dogs. She hasn’t met a cat up close, but showed no interest in the cat that lived outside at her former home.
She is fully vetted and ready to go. She is potty-trained and crate-trained, but will need someone who is patient to work with her on mouthing. She would do best in a home with at least one other dog as a playmate but this is not a requirement. She has a lot of energy, but will cuddle in bed with you at night.
At Paws in Prison, she works daily with an inmate on the basics and maybe even a few tricks, and meets weekly with a dog trainer. She will graduate with her canine good citizen certificate.

Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
