Hello! My name is Dunn, and my brother Brooks and I were fortunate to be taken in by the kind folks at HSOW after being found as strays. The rescuers estimate that I'm about 1.5 years old and I weigh 25 pounds. I'm a young, sweet, and somewhat shy fellow, but don't let that fool you. Once I get to know you, my energetic side will surely shine, running around the yard. So a fenced in yard would be best for me. I'm excelling in crate training and I get along wonderfully with other dogs and cats. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will bring joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love into your life, I'm your guy. Adopt me and let's start our adventure together. Prospective adopters with approved applications will be contacted to arrange a meeting.

Additional adoption info

Dogs and puppies are $150. Kittens and cats are $80. The adoption fee includes vet exam, first set of vaccines, microchipping, Feline Leukemia test for cats, Heartworm test for dogs. Also, includes rabies vaccine and spay/neuter at appropriate age. A completed and approved adoption application is required before meetings are arranged. The foster home is responsible for approving adoptions.

Adoption fairs are held monthly at PetSmart, Wilkesboro, NC.
Prospective adopters with approved applications will be contacted by the foster homes to arrange meetings.

There is a also a county-run shelter, which is not formally associated with the HSOW, but we pull fosters from there and do all we can to promote adoptions:

The Humane Society of Wilkes is an independent, 501(c)(3), volunteer organization dedicated to reducing the number of homeless, unwanted, and neglected companion animals in Wilkes County, NC. We support pet owners and prospective owners with programs that promote adoption and spay/neuter and services that provide information and resources to the community.

The Humane Society of Wilkes also works closely with Wilkes County Animal Services and local veterinarians to help prevent suffering and improve the quality of life for animals in Wilkes County.
