Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Poor Little Boy Blue! He's outlived the families he has loved... not once but twice!
Blue is about 10 years old and weighs 17 pounds and is guessed to be a pomeranian/chihuahua mix.
Blue originally came to us in 2020 after his owner passed away. He was adopted out and now his second owner has passed away!
Blue is doing very well in his foster home. He uses pee pad when his foster mom is at work and goes outside when she is home. He is good with the other dogs in his foster home. He is excited by and barks at the cat but does not try to hurt it. Blue really does not like visitors or people that he doesn't know coming to the house and acts like he might bite! He also gets upset and bitey when crated so that may not be the best option for him. Blue would be most successful in a calm and quiet home. He bonds quickly with the people who care for him but not people who may come to visit. We know that older people prefer little dogs but we have got to find Blue an adopter who will outlive him! It just breaks our hearts to see him going through this again!
A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Blue, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs!
Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
