My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nyx is a beautiful, blue and tan, 70 lbs, spayed female Doberman.  She was used for breeding until she came to us a couple years ago and was recently returned due to separation anxiety (she has not show any separation anxiety when housed with another dog). She loves to go for car rides and is great in a vehicle. She also loves going on long hikes and has perfect recall. She has shown some leash reactivity to other dogs in one of her previous homes, but we have not seen this, and she walks wonderfully on a head halter. She is also muzzle trained. She LOVES kids and she also LOVES playing fetch. She has never shown ANY aggression to humans. She is happy to go outside to do her business and has never had an accident in the house. She is currently being fostered with a male Doberman and is doing great. We would prefer her to go to a home with a male large breed dog as she will chase small dogs and cats if given the opportunity.

Nyx is happy to snuggle up and watch movies for hours. She does have some pretty extreme separation anxiety if she is the only dog in the home, so we would like her to go to a home with an easygoing, but confident, large male dog. She has grabbed & pinned a couple of dogs she was displeased with in the past, not letting go of them quickly to get her point across, but she has never hurt another dog when she has done this. With this said, Nyx needs an experienced owner who is comfortable with reading dog body language and managing dog-dog interactions. Nyx is a solid dog, but she is very much a Doberman and can be a lot of dog for an inexperienced owner because of her energy and "take no sh!t" attitude with what she considers rude dogs.

Nyx does not love cold weather. She will still go outside to do her thing, but she watches to make sure someone is waiting for her by the door. She will destroy any dog toy in record time. She does not love long flights of stairs and might take a while to adjust to a home with a lot of them. Nyx is protective of her people and her home.

Nyx has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. She is currently on a natural thyroid supplement and will need her thyroid re-tested in the future. Her adoption fee is $500. All adopters must agree not to use any punitive training methods including, but not limited to, leash corrections; pinning; alpha rolls; and prong, pinch, choke, shock, or e-collars. Apply to adopt Nyx by submitting our adoption application at https://adoptadobe.com/adoption-application/.
