My name is Maui!

Maui was in one home his whole life until he was surrendered to a crowded shelter at 4 years old when the Mom became pregnant. If you know German Shepherds, you likely know that they deteriorate quickly in a shelter environment with being away from their humans -  he was no exception to this.

Maui lost quite a bit of weight in his time at the shelter. Since coming into the rescue he has started to gain weight and feel better all around. Unfortunately, we have learned that Maui prefers to be the only doggo in his house as he tends to be hyper focused on other dogs when they’re around. He would likely benefit from training (and a strong owner) which will help him learn to look to his human for guidance and confidence. He has worked with a trainer and he has potential to be with other dogs - if given the proper tools. Here’s a bit more about Maui:

does tend to counter surf and will eat food left out

Maui does well with structure so a strong, confident owner is required to prevent bouncing around (German Shepherd experience is a plus!) Professional training is also highly encouraged and we’d be more than happy to give some recommendations :)
