My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I’m Zoey, an 11-month-old Great Dane/Lab mix with a lot of love to give. I was rescued from a scary kill shelter in Alabama, but now I’m safe and sound, staying with a foster family in here in Quincy, MI, but I can’t wait to find my forever family.

I’m about 55 pounds of pure fun and sweetness! I love playing with dogs of all sizes, and I’m even cool with cats—as long as they’re dog-savvy. Running around and playing are some of my favorite things to do, so I’m hoping my new home has a fully FENCED-IN YARD where I can let loose and show off my zoomies.

Being a puppy, I’m really into chewing, so I’ll need plenty of toys to keep me busy. I’d be so happy to have another dog buddy to play with too! Right now, I’m working on building my confidence with my foster mom, who is a trainer, and learning some cool things like basic obedience and a fun trick called “touch.” I’m a quick learner and super curious about everything around me.

I might be a little shy when I first meet new people, but don’t worry—once I get to know you, I’ll be your best friend forever. I’m calm most of the time, but I do get bursts of energy where I just have to run around and have some fun.

I’m fully-vetted, pretty good on a leash, housebroken and I’m crate-trained, too. I even enjoy car rides! And guess what? I love water—especially splashing around in my turtle pool.

If you think we’d be a good match, let’s meet! My adoption fee is $350, and I promise I’m worth every penny. Questions about me? Please email projecthoperescue@gmail.com. Ready to bring me home? Fill out the adoption application by visiting our website at www.projecthoperescue.org. I can’t wait to meet you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require that the interested adopter come to meet the dog and then fill out an adoption application. We will review the application and then pass on to the dog's foster family (if applicable). We then contact the potential adopter's vet and we will also do a home visit. If all goes well, the adopter signs our adoption contract stating that, among other things, the dog will receive regular vet care and must be returned to us if things do not work out.

More about this rescue

We focus primarily on rescuing senior and special needs dogs in kill facilities. We are located on 30 acres of land in rural southern Michigan. We are a care-for-life facility, so any dog that does not or that we deem cannot be adopted will live with us for the rest of his/her life. Because we rescue the dogs that are not in high demand, it normally takes our dogs longer to find that perfect family. We believe that it takes a special family to adopt our special dogs.
