My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Desi! Desi, a 2 year old Pittie/Lab mix. was picked up as a stray in June. She was in rough shape: skinny, bad skin and ears. Desi is a survivor for sure. On July 13th she had 8 beautiful puppies in the shelter. A few days later, Desi and her littles went to a loving foster home. Shelters are no place for a momma dog and puppies. The puppies have been weaned and moved to multiple foster homes. They will up for adoption in a few weeks. Now the focus turns to getting sweet Desi healthy. She is ready to be treated like a queen in a foster, foster to adopt or forever home. Desi is scheduled for vaccines and spay in early September. She is currently fostered with 3 dogs her size and does well with all. She is a love bug and will make a terrific addition to a lucky family. If interested, submit an application (foster or adoption).

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adoption is a four part process.

Application: You will be required to submit general information along with personal and vet references.

Home visit: Potential adopters will receive a home visit by one of our members.

Meet -n- Greet: All family members (fur babies included) must meet the foster parent and pup they wish to adopt.

Here at Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, each adoption contribution is a flat rate per dog. We do not adjust this rate based on the "popularity" of a dog. We believe every dog is worthy of an owner that sees the value in them. Each adoption contribution is used to cover the expenses incurred for that dog and other dogs in our program.

Go meet their pets

Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, INC is located in the quaint town of Gillsville, in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains, just south of Gainesville. Our rescues are fostered in loving homes located in Hall, Jackson, and neighboring counties.

More about this rescue

We are a small canine rescue group located in Northeast Georgia that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, fully vet, and re-home faithful dogs that have been tossed out of cars onto rural roads. We are a registered, 501c3 tax deductible Non Profit Rescue and we are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture

All dogs in our program have been previously reported to animal control to ensure they were not lost pups who had a family diligently looking for them. We do not turn a dog away due to breed, health concerns, or age. It is our goal to keep these dogs out of animal shelters, thus saving their lives and providing more time to the dogs already in shelters to find their forever family.
