My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Precious has found herself looking for a new home due to no fault of her own. This older (and very large) gal has spent the last couple of years struggling to lose weight. Precious is seeking a family that will help her with her weight loss journey, to ensure that she can live out her retirement years in comfort.

Despite her size, Precious is a true lap cat at heart! She would absolutely LOVE to sit in your lap all day if given the chance. Her affection knows no bounds-she is incredibly affectionate and will shower you with LOTS of purring to show her appreciation. Precious adores getting scratches and will happily let you brush her, even enjoying a gentle grooming session on her belly. She sits perfectly still for nail trimming, making her a breeze to care for.

Precious would do best in a quiet home without other animals or young children. If you're looking for a sweet, loving companion who is ready to bring joy and comfort to your life, Precious might be the perfect match for you.

If you are interested in welcoming Precious into your home, please submit a pre-adoption questionnaire here: https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/cat-pre-adoption-questionnaire/

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
