Meet Buddy, a 1 year and 4-month-old neutered Cocker Spaniel boy. He was turned into a NC shelter with the owners saying he had started nibbling at their feet, and they didn't want their grandchildren to get hurt. They had him in their home for two months after getting him from someone else.
This sweet boy needs an adult only home, 55 and under is best. No kids or young grandkids due to his unknown, unstable past. He has been in 4 different homes. When he meets or sees other dogs, he barks at them and if given toys, this will trigger his issue to react. He came to us with bilateral cherry eyes, HW & fecal status negative. Surgery repair for his cherry eyes was scheduled and has been done. He did well with recovery. When he came in, he was dirty with several mats and was groomed. He came back to us sad and withdrawn. This said, we had to start at square one again with him. A new owner must be patient, listen to what we suggest and have a fenced yard. To make progress with him you will need to go slow. He acts like he doesn't know kindness, love, attention or how to handle noises and being around other dogs. It is possible that his sadness comes from being left alone too much, being mistreated or simply never receiving much attention. With an unknown past it's hard to say what he has been through. He might be okay with another dog who is calm and easy going but we suggest that he be your only dog. A loving owner who can offer him stability, kindness, love and attention is ideal. An owner who will work with him and not give up on him is key. He does have some issues, but we feel he deserves to know the real meaning of kindness and being loved as a companion in your home.
After all vetting needs are completed. His adoption fee will be $500.
