Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Location: Harrisonburg, Virginia We can accept fosters in various states
2 years old, neutered, house trained
Has not lived with dogs but has interacted with them. Charlie is mostly curious by other dogs and has never been an aggressor toward any other dog. He does interact with other dogs mostly out of his home environment but has had visits from the dog next door and seems to play nicely with this (much smaller than him) Chihuahua. There was another instance where a different neighboring dog got somewhat aggressive with Charlie but Charlie mainly coward instead of lashing back. Though he has issues with strangers by the fence the chi has slipped under the fence and Charlie is great and plays with him.
Has never met a cat.
We need a no child home to due a bite incident. He does not like being pet by his ears or grabbed by the collar. Charlie has recently bit a visiting friend because she mistakenly scratched behind his irritated ears. It drew blood and bruised but was not deep enough to need stitches or medical attention. Charlie was suffering from a bad ear infection for months and his ears were very painful. We can't say for certain this would not have happened if there wasn't an ear infection, but he was in pain. For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. For an application to foster or adopt, please go to www.saverockythegreatdane.org and fill out an app. Thank you so much, we look forward to helping you.

More about this rescue
To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.
To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.
We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
