Shy BIG BOY who was a community cat. He obviously was enjoying the food provided to him because he is on the heavier side and would benefit from a diet plan. He arrived with matting on the rear end, most likely because he couldn`t reach back there to groom himself. We are brushing out the mattes and he purred with appreciation when done so. It must have been the first time a brush was used on him. He loved being brushed. He would appreciate a quieter home with a patient adopter who will take the time to help build up his confidence. He can get overstimulated so we are recommending a cat savvy household for him.
Franklin is also FIV+, so he needs to be an inside only cat. FIV is slow acting, cat-only virus, and cannot be transmissible to humans, dogs, or other species of animals. FIV is not spread casually – like in litter boxes, food and water bowls, or when snuggling and playing. Instead, FIV is spread through serious, deep penetrating bite wounds -- The type of bite wound that is seen most often in feral, intact tomcats -- or by blood transfusions. Cats with FIV can live very long, perfectly comfortable lives. Provide FIV+ cats with a good diet and annual veterinarian exam, and address any secondary health concerns as they arise.
