Pepper & Milo Hey there, the dynamic duo of Pepper and Milo are in the house-actually, Roaming Room 3! We might look like an unlikely pair, but we are bonded and rely on one another to keep our spirits up. We were surrendered to the HSHC on August 18 due to family allergies. I am Pepper, a 4-year-old female brown Tabby with a white face. Milo is my 8-year-old big brother, with an orange and white Tabby coat. His coat was so severely matted he had to have his back shaved! I think this has embarrassed him, so he often hides in bed. I weigh 12+ pounds, and Milo weighs 15 pounds, so we both could benefit from some weight loss. Of course, we are both altered, so we don't have to worry about having kittens. We have lived with our family all our lives, so starting over again with a new person is a little scary. Being the younger cat, I have more pep in my step. I went right up to the interviewer lady (IL) for some attention. I sure enjoyed the pets, chin scratches, and ear rubs. I licked her hand to show my approval. I am a curious and playful girl! I even made the IL laugh out loud when I did a sploot (when your front and back legs stick straight out with your belly on the floor) in the sunshine! Dogs often do this, but she never saw a cat do it! Milo was happy to have the IL pet him and give him affection. He's a charming fellow, just a little shy. We would love to come and live with you! 10-8-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
