Meet Pockets! This 14 month old, obsidian black cat is the definition of sweet and dignified with A LOT of LOVE to give!
This special boy came to Lucky Black Cats after we saw a want ad for a free cat after an owner was trying to surrender him due to "allergies". We intervened, after all, giving away cats in the want ads is not a suitable way to come into cat ownership and we won't leave any cat behind, especially not our black beauties!
After a 1-2 week transition with his foster family, Pockets personality really became front and center! This is a cat who can't wait to find his forever family and show them all the ways he'd make an awesome family pet. He's playful, cuddly, curious, gentle. and kind. All the traits that make for a PURRRfect and well rounded family cat.
Once Pocket's knows he is home and feeling comfortable, he becomes the "man of the house", exploring all the little nooks and crannies he can find! He loves climbing his cat tower and being the king of his own castle. He especially loves to play with his people from the tippy top!
He can be a little prankster and go atop his tower and reach out to passerbys in an attempt for love, affection, and a chance for a game of "cat and mouse". He loves toys and interactivity just as much as he loves to laze about on the couch and "Netflix and chill", but Animal Planet please, Pockets loves his nature shows that he watches on TV and also outside the window to the outside world!
You know Pockets is a happy cat when his purr motor gets going and never stops! He'll never miss a chance to roll over and show you his belly to lure you in for a belly rub too! After all, he enjoys being a pampered pet! But don't always fall for the belly rub trick! Sometimes it's all a rouse to lure you into a trap and play!
Because Pockets is a curious cat, he likes his high perch on his cat tower, so we ideally would like an adopter that is willing to give this King his rightful throne!
Although he hasn't been with another cat since he was a baby, he is fascinated with the Foster Parent's resident cat and he will call and chirp to her for attention! Knowing this is her home, he knows the hierachy and rolls over to show his belly and signal that he is being submissive. We think he would do great with another super chill cat that is welcoming and friendly to other cats. He would not do well with a cat that is too dominant, since he's far too sweet!
Pockets is a healthy weight at 12lbs, he's very long and lanky and on the larger side of average for a male feline. And while not a pure bred by any means (after all he has a spot of white on his chest and a white patch on his tummy making it known he is mixed-breed), Pockets has the silky, soft, smooth, and shiny black fur that is common with the Burmese feline bloodline. Add his black paw pads and nose, you can see the very Burmese-like traits.
Pockets is FIV/FeLV negative, neutered, and up to date on rabies and vaccines. He's fully turnkey and ready to go, the only thing missing is a home and family to call his own!
