My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Korma and Curry are a beautiful tortoiseshell mother-daughter duo looking for their forever home.

Korma (mom, about 2-3 yrs old) is a lover! She likes being scratched under the chin and makes churtly noises so you know she’d like some love (these are the same churtles she will use to entice her little Curry for snuzzles and nursing). She enjoys being picked up and will stay there until your arms get tired. Curry (baby, about 10 weeks old) was described by the shelter as having “a bit of an attitude.” She is happy to be out and about in the house but is adept at dodging your hand when you go in for a pet. Her fosters can pet her when she’s sleepy or eating or if they pick her up. This spicy dish has come a loooong way in foster care and we expect her to continue to warm up as she feels even safer and more comfortable.

Mom and mini-me’s current hobbies involve releasing their “zoomies” by chasing each other all over the house. Curry will nap high on the cat tree or in a dining room chair. Korma prefers the couch or windowsill, as she’s much too refined and mature to climb trees.

Curry likes a good play session in the morning, that will sometimes entice Korma to get in on the fun. Korma is a formidable hunter and pounces with force and swiftness on her prey. Curry is still learning the finer skills from her mom but loves the hunt all the same. Being a kitten and a newer mom, there are many naps taken throughout the day. A girl needs her beauty rest, after all.

Korma and Curry are being fostered in a home with other foster cats/kittens with whom they’re currently separated. Their fosters are newly working on the integration process, but Curry and Korma may want to have their humans all to themselves. Time will tell.

This tortie twosome will go to a home together where the lucky adopters will have twice the fun! They would love to have a home with a patient, loving cat-family that will nurture Curry’s blossoming trust, playful nature, and sweet soul. If you’d like to add a sweet mom and daughter duo to your home, apply below!

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
