My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hellooooo, I'm Nightfury!!!

I came into the BC SPCA's care as a stray, and quickly won the hearts of the staff here with my sweet personality and loving head bumps! I'll give you kisses and gentle love nibbles, and will take treats so gently from your hands. I love scratches, nose boops, an attention!

I am a big guy (I love to eat!!) and could stand to lose a few pounds, but I don't let it slow me down!

I may be 11 years old but I certainly don't look it and while I do enjoy a good long cat nap, I am still active and can be playful! I am confident and outgoing and have shown that I might do okay with another well-matched cat in the home, but I would also do great as the star of the show!

Because I am a BIG boy, I require a large covered litterbox and a clumping type litter to make me happy!

If I sound like the perfect kitty for you, please come by the shelter during our open hours (Tuesday - Saturday noon-4pm) to meet me or submit an application for me here:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
