Cherry is a 4-month-old, 4-pound female kitten from the NYCACC.
Cherry is a special girl who deserves a special human. A five month-old monochromatic shorthair kitten, she has had one eye removed due to an infection and limited vision in the other. She also has Manx Syndrome, which has left her sans tail and wobbly in her back legs.
Her restricted eyesight has no impact on her care or behavior. She will still chase toys (those that make noise are still recommended) and mix it up with her foster sister.
Her unreliable back legs mean that she can not jump up on things (furniture), though she neither knows nor cares about what she's missing. Navigating her litterbox can be problematic, since her lack of posterior control results in falling over at inopportune times. This problem can be mitigated by using a narrow litterbox with higher walls, which helps brace her laterally. Still, Cherry will need to be bathed semi-regularly. Fortunately she has gotten used to this and takes it like a total boss, mostly looking forward to the treat that comes afterward (she is Pavlov's cat).
This beautiful baby girl wants nothing more than to love and be loved. She is the sweetest of sweethearts -- affectionate, playful, and a joy to have around. Her life thus far has been hard, with surgeries and hospital visits and myriad medications, and she needs a loving, committed forever home that puts her on easy street ad infinitum.
Cherry is up to date on shots, FeLV/FIV negative, dewormed, and microchipped.
To apply for Cherry, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the animal is on our website, they are still available.
Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable cat, or final size of any of our adoptable kittens. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the cat into our rescue.
