Meet Jed, a young, vibrant soul who loves nothing more than a good belly rub. He's a bundle of joy, filled with curiosity and energy. He's playful, always ready for a game of fetch or a tug-of-war. But don't let his excitable nature fool you, Jed is also a shy and timid boy who may take a moment to warm up to you. He's a bit jumpy, and his whines will tug at your heartstrings. He weighs 17 pounds and is a bit of a leash charger, always eager to lead the way, but with a little patience and training, he'll be walking by your side in no time. His sweet kisses will melt your heart. He's the perfect mix of cuddly and energetic, ready to explore the world with you and then curl up for a nap. We don't know if he is house trained or how he'll behave around dogs or children so feel free to bring yours to meet him. He'll be excited about all the attention. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

Dogs
A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Special Discounts
Seniors for Seniors - Special Senior Citizen (60 yrs +) No charge for an animal 7 yrs or older.
Military Families - 50% of adoption fees waived for military personnel and veterans. (proof of eligibility required)
Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
